Thor Halvorssen And His Oslo Freedom Forum

Thor Halvorssen is the creator of the famous Oslo Freedom Forum. The conference has been held annually since 2009. The event intends to bring together notable people including politicians, activists, Nobel Peace Prize winners, political prisoners affected by corruption and other types of public figures for networking and information exchange.

The primary Oslo Freedom Forum is always held in Norway but there are related events held in San Francisco and many American college campuses. All of their events are live streamed to the Internet at the same time it is presented live.

The 2016 OFF took place in may of this year. The event included the OFF Tech Lab that brought together Twitter, Jigsaw and other tech companies to teach how to use Internet platforms for online activism. The event also featured many workshops that taught members how to form coalitions and to demand reform. The 2016 event also hosted many live performances to boost moral. The Swedish singer-songwriter José Gonzalez gave a live musical performance at the event. The performance artist Tomáš Kubínek was also featured at the event.

The next event will be held towards the end of May in 2017. The event will feature speakers such as Guillermo Fariñas Hernández, Shohret Hoshur, Vian Dakhil, Ahmedur Rashid Chowdhury, Grace Jo, Xavier “Bonil” Bonilla, John Prendergast and many others will be announced. Thor Halvorssen Mendoza was born in Venezuela in 1976. He comes from a family of government dissidents that were persecuted by the Venezuelan government. In addittion to the OFF, he has formed the civil right groups The Heritage Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union, The Eagle Forum, Feminists for Free Expression, The Human Rights Foundation, Lucent Technologies, Foundation for Individual Rights in Education and Children’s Peace Movement.

According to Crunchbase, His most popular film, Freedom’s Fury, was aided by the help of Lucy Liu, Quentin Tarantino, and Andrew Vajna.

In Indoctrinate U, he highlighted the widespread censorship found on college campuses in the United States. In The Sugar Babies, he highlighted the human trafficking that is happening amongst the poor class in the Dominican Republic.
